Specializations โ€” signature abilities & masteries ๐ŸŽฏ

v0.25 reworks talents. Picking a specialization is now a real choice with real teeth: the moment you choose one, you're handed a signature ability unique to that spec and a passive identity mastery that scales as you level. Every one of the 27 specs (three per class) has both.

๐ŸŽฏ The basics: at level 10 you unlock talents and pick a spec. That instantly grants your spec's signature ability (no point to spend, no node to reach) and switches on its identity mastery passive, which grows from 50% strength at level 10 to full strength at level 20. Then you spend your talent points โ€” all 11 of them by cap โ€” inside that spec's tree.

The 27 specializations

Each class has three specs. The name in bold is the spec's identity (its mastery); the role is in brackets.

Class
Warrior Battlecraft (dps) Bloodrush (dps) Ironguard (tank)
Paladin Sacrament (heal) Vigil (tank) Requital (dps)
Hunter Packlord (dps) Coldsight (dps) Fieldcraft (dps)
Rogue Knifework (dps) Thuggery (dps) Skulduggery (dps)
Priest Doctrine (heal) Benison (heal) Vespers (dps)
Mage Aethermancy (dps) Pyromancy (dps) Cryomancy (dps)
Shaman Thundercall (dps) Warspirit (dps) Spiritmend (heal)
Warlock Hexcraft (dps) Pactbound (dps) Ruination (dps)
Druid Moongrove (dps) Wildfang (tank) Groveheart (heal)

Signature abilities

A signature is a full ability your spec grants the instant you select it โ€” no talent point, no gated node. Twenty-four of the 27 are brand-new abilities shipped with this update; the other three reuse an existing spell. A few:

Spec Signature Effect
Warrior ยท Battlecraft Maiming Strike Weapon damage + 40 bonus, 6s cooldown, extra threat
Paladin ยท Sacrament Holy Shock Instant โ€” heal a friend or deal Holy damage to an enemy
Hunter ยท Packlord Bestial Wrath +20% attack power and +100% pet damage for 15s
Mage ยท Cryomancy Icy Veins +30% spell haste and interrupt immunity for 10s
Warlock ยท Pactbound Metamorphosis 20s demon form: +20% spell damage & cast speed
Druid ยท Wildfang Feral Charge Gap-closer into the fight

Identity masteries

Your spec's mastery is a passive that defines how it plays. It applies purely from picking the spec and scales linearly with level โ€” half strength at level 10, full strength at 20. Some examples:

  • Sharpened Blades (Warrior ยท Battlecraft) โ€” +15% melee ability damage, +25% physical crit damage
  • Kindled Faith (Paladin ยท Sacrament) โ€” your healing crits heal for double
  • Packbond (Hunter ยท Packlord) โ€” pet deals +35% damage and has +8% health
  • Brittlebreak (Mage ยท Cryomancy) โ€” +25% Frostbolt/Frost Nova damage, +10% armor
  • Fiendlore (Warlock ยท Pactbound) โ€” 20% of damage you take is redirected to your demon, +10% Stamina
  • Primal Heart (Druid ยท Wildfang) โ€” +15% physical & bleed damage, +20% threat

What changed

Before, your "spec" was just wherever you'd sunk the most points. Now it's an explicit choice that pays off immediately โ€” signature + mastery before you spend a single point. Points spent in another spec's tree no longer do anything (off-spec nodes go dormant), so builds are cleaner and more committed.

Respeccing re-picks the spec and reallocates every point, swapping your signature and mastery to match. Choose the spec that fits how you want to play โ€” the identity is the point.
