Arena PvP & Protect Yumi ๐ฑ
v0.23 adds a new team objective mode โ Protect Yumi โ alongside the existing Ashen Coliseum ladder and the 2v2 Fiesta. This guide covers all of arena PvP, with a deep dive on Yumi. All PvP is opt-in: you choose when to queue, and nothing is forced on you.
๐ฑ Protect Yumi in one line: two teams (3v3 or 5v5) each guard a 5,000-HP cat inside a braided maze; the cats teleport every 60 seconds; first team to kill the enemy cat wins. Unranked.
Duels โ free and casual
Challenge any player within 30 yards to a friendly duel. Nothing's on the line but pride, so it's the easiest way to learn a matchup. No rating, no record, no consequences. (You can't duel inside the Nythraxis Raid Arena.)
The Ashen Coliseum โ ranked ladder
The realm's ranked arena. Two brackets, each with its own separate standing:
- 1v1 โ solo ranked against a single opponent.
- 2v2 โ a premade pair, or solos matched with a stranger.
How matches run:
- Queue from anywhere above ground (you can't queue while dead or in a dungeon).
- A 5-second countdown opens every match โ no damage lands yet.
- You're scaled to your own level and gear. Matchmaking pairs you by Elo (everyone starts at 1500; floor 100).
- Win by defeating the other side, or by timeout at 150 seconds โ if both teams are at similar health when time runs out, it's a draw.
- Once you're down, you're out for the rest of that bout โ there's no self-res in ranked.
The ladder: wins lift your rating, losses drop it, and beating higher-rated opponents swings your rating more. Rated results feed the realm-wide leaderboard, tracked per bracket. Only 1v1 and 2v2 are ranked โ Fiesta and Protect Yumi are not.
2v2 Fiesta โ augment party mode
A fast, unranked 2v2 played in short rounds. Every round both teams draft augments โ quick boosts that reshape your kit on the fly โ so no two matches play alike. Score points for takedowns, first to the round limit takes the round, and it's best of three.
The augments come in three escalating waves:
| Wave | Feel |
|---|---|
| Silver | Clean single-stat boosts โ flat damage, armor, movement โ that sharpen the basics |
| Gold | Two-edged combos where your build starts to take shape and sing |
| Prismatic | Build-defining, screen-melting spikes, meant to feel ridiculous in the best way |
๐ Augments and power-ups last only for the match โ Fiesta is about playful, on-the-spot builds, not lasting power. Nobody buys their way to a win.
Power-ups drop as glowing orbs mid-fight, free for whoever grabs them first, and last only a short while: Speed Demon (blinding pace), Colossus (swell into a giant), Moon Boots (low-gravity bounce), and Berserker (a surge of fury).
Protect Yumi โ the new objective mode ๐ฑ
A team objective mode played in a maze. Each side guards its own cat familiar, Yumi, while hunting the enemy's. First team to destroy the enemy Yumi wins. Unranked, in two brackets: 3v3 and 5v5.
Yumi, the cat
- A passive, non-attacking objective with 5,000 HP (flat โ it doesn't scale with level or bracket).
- Only the enemy team can damage her; your team can heal and shield her.
- She's immune to all crowd control and slows โ you can't lock her down.
- The instant a Yumi hits 0 HP, her team loses.
The braided maze
- A deterministic 13ร13 grid of 5.75-yard corridors, 180ยฐ symmetric so both teams see the same layout mirrored.
- Every cell connects to at least two others โ no dead ends or traps.
- Five plazas: the two team spawns (blue & red) in opposite corners, the two Yumi start points in the other corners, and a 3ร3 centre plaza for mid-arena brawls.
- A tall translucent beacon hovers over each cat, visible from anywhere โ so you always know where both Yumis are.
How a match flows
- Countdown โ 5s. Heal up; no damage yet.
- Active phase. Hunt the enemy Yumi while defending yours. Every 60 seconds both cats teleport at once to new cells (always at least 5 yards apart, never on a spawn plaza), with a visual burst everyone sees. Get downed and you bench for just 10 seconds, then respawn beside your own cat โ unlike ranked, a death doesn't end your match.
- Sudden death โ at 10:00. Teleports freeze, and the cats start taking escalating bonus damage (1.25ร at 10:00, +25% every 15s) plus a neutral bleed every 2 seconds. Nobody can stall โ a winner is guaranteed.
Winning
Reduce the enemy Yumi to 0. If both cats would die on the same sudden-death pulse, the tiebreak is: higher remaining HP survives โ then whoever dealt more total damage to the enemy cat โ then a per-match random roll. It's never a draw.
Teams & disconnects: queue solo or as a premade up to your bracket size. One missing teammate just benches their slot (you play short); the match only forfeits if an entire team vanishes at once.
